Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Financials and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.21% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 10.00% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.76 at the close. G.M.I (TW:3312) added 9.94% or 0.62 points to end at 6.86 and Waffer Tech (TW:6235) was up 9.89% or 1.30 points to 14.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which lost 8.76% or 0.190 points to trade at 1.980 in late trade. China Electric (TW:1611) declined 5.66% or 0.45 points to end at 7.50 and Jui Li (TW:1512) shed 4.79% or 0.23 points to 4.57.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 573 to 200 and 80 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.17% or 0.08 to $47.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.49% or 0.24 to hit $49.28 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.62% or 8.25 to trade at $1330.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 32.453, while TWD/CNY fell 0.24% to 0.2046.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 96.09.
