Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Glass, Semiconductor and Electronics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Arima Communications Corp (TW:8101), which rose 9.96% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2392) added 9.90% or 7.20 points to end at 79.90 and Kinpo Electronics Inc (TW:2312) was up 9.90% or 2.90 points to 32.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lead Data Inc (TW:2443), which lost 9.85% or 0.39 points to trade at 3.57 in late trade. Mercuries Life Insurance Co Ltd (TW:2867) declined 4.30% or 0.30 points to end at 6.68 and Shining Building Business Co Ltd (TW:5531) shed 4.27% or 0.50 points to 11.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.93% or 0.66 to $70.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.86% or 0.64 to hit $73.99 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 1.75% or 48.00 to trade at $2,689.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.43% to 32.44, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.45% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 106.94.
