Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Machinery and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry Co Ltd (TW:2421), which rose 10.00% or 5.20 points to trade at 57.20 at the close. Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) added 9.97% or 0.77 points to end at 8.49 and Rexon Industrial Corp Ltd (TW:1515) was up 9.91% or 4.45 points to 49.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FarGlory Hotel Co Ltd (TW:2712), which lost 5.41% or 1.45 points to trade at 25.35 in late trade. Lily Textile Co Ltd (TW:1443) declined 4.52% or 0.28 points to end at 5.91 and Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518) shed 4.51% or 2.00 points to 42.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 576 to 179 and 116 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.23% or 0.12 to $51.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.35% or 0.20 to hit $56.59 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.65% or 8.40 to trade at $1276.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.24% to 30.403, while TWD/CNY fell 0.46% to 0.2184.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 93.29.
