Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Unicaja Banco SA (BME:UNI), which rose 1.00% or 0.01 points to trade at 1.31 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (BME:ICAG) added 0.63% or 0.01 points to end at 2.08 and Melia Hotels (BME:MEL) was up 0.47% or 0.04 points to 7.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which lost 6.35% or 0.62 points to trade at 9.21 in late trade. SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS) declined 5.38% or 0.63 points to end at 11.09 and Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE) shed 3.86% or 0.75 points to 18.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 130 to 71 and 21 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.77% or 18.65 to $2,439.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.16% or 0.13 to hit $80.89 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.09 to trade at $84.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.86.
