Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Laboratorios Farmaceuticos ROVI (BME:ROVI), which rose 2.89% or 2.40 points to trade at 85.40 at the close. Aena SME SA (BME:AENA) added 0.59% or 1.10 points to end at 187.70 and Unicaja Banco SA (BME:UNI) was unchanged 0.32% or 0.00 points to 1.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (BME:ICAG), which lost 2.84% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.93 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (BME:MTS) declined 2.29% or 0.50 points to end at 21.38 and Merlin Properties SA (BME:MRL) shed 2.28% or 0.24 points to 10.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 158 to 47 and 12 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.77% or 17.90 to $2,312.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.21% or 0.17 to hit $80.66 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $84.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 105.67.
