Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.61% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ArcelorMittal SA (BME:MTS), which rose 13.87% or 3.38 points to trade at 27.75 at the close. Banco de Sabadell SA (BME:SABE) added 5.79% or 0.13 points to end at 2.41 and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BME:BBVA) was up 5.49% or 0.61 points to 11.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Logista (BME:LOG), which lost 2.92% or 0.86 points to trade at 28.60 in late trade. Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) declined 2.12% or 0.52 points to end at 23.96 and Endesa SA (BME:ELE) shed 1.68% or 0.37 points to 21.64.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 130 to 64 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.65% or 18.66 to $2,874.34 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.30% or 0.21 to hit $70.82 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.24% or 0.18 to trade at $74.43 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 107.68.
