Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which rose 4.12% or 0.36 points to trade at 9.05 at the close. ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (BME:ACS) added 2.64% or 1.04 points to end at 40.40 and Merlin Properties SA (BME:MRL) was up 2.09% or 0.22 points to 10.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Acerinox (BME:ACX), which lost 0.30% or 0.03 points to trade at 9.92 in late trade. Banco Santander (BME:SAN) declined 0.24% or 0.01 points to end at 4.44 and Aena SME SA (BME:AENA) shed 0.05% or 0.10 points to 185.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 146 to 52 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.87% or 20.40 to $2,367.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.26% or 0.21 to hit $80.92 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.31 to trade at $85.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 105.26.
