Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.80% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Fluidra (BME:FLUI), which rose 5.09% or 1.10 points to trade at 22.72 at the close. Acerinox (BME:ACX) added 3.70% or 0.35 points to end at 9.82 and ArcelorMittal SA (BME:MTS) was up 3.55% or 0.75 points to 21.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cellnex Telecom SA (BME:CLNX), which lost 2.63% or 0.97 points to trade at 35.85 in late trade. Endesa SA (BME:ELE) declined 1.78% or 0.35 points to end at 19.31 and Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE) shed 1.67% or 0.36 points to 21.24.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 142 to 54 and 22 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.62% or 16.05 to $2,614.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.15% or 1.50 to hit $71.38 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.87% or 1.38 to trade at $75.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 100.46.
