Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 6.55% or 0.22 points to trade at 3.58 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 2.64% or 0.55 points to end at 21.36 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) was up 2.24% or 0.27 points to 12.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which lost 4.45% or 0.62 points to trade at 13.30 in late trade. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) declined 3.28% or 1.13 points to end at 33.32 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) shed 2.61% or 0.85 points to 31.67.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 188 to 148 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.14% to 33.78.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.25 to $1324.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.37 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.64% or 0.92 to trade at $145.30 .
USD/BRL was up 1.13% to 3.2705, while EUR/BRL rose 0.33% to 3.6631.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.80% at 95.44.
