Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which rose 3.77% or 0.49 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. Vopak (AS:VOPA) added 3.35% or 1.41 points to end at 43.32 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 2.69% or 0.605 points to 23.055 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.23% or 0.20 points to trade at 16.10 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 0.95% or 0.046 points to end at 4.795 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.90% or 0.500 points to 54.950.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 70 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.13% to 19.08.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 4.57% or 1.98 to $45.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 4.21% or 1.87 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.23% or 2.75 to trade at $1224.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.0726, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8636.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 100.19.
