Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Information Technology and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which rose 24.52% or 423.40 points to trade at 2150.00 at the close. Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) added 22.01% or 242.60 points to end at 1344.90 and Samson International PLC (CM:SIL) was up 18.91% or 18.70 points to 117.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 12.98% or 204.90 points to trade at 1374.00 in late trade. Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL) declined 12.60% or 9.40 points to end at 65.20 and Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) shed 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.700.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 73 and 59 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.99% or 0.99 to $48.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.07% or 1.08 to hit $51.16 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.30 to trade at $1264.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.03% to 196.515, while USD/LKR rose 0.09% to 152.970.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 97.07.
