Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which rose 3.38% or 52.0 points to trade at 1592.0 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) added 3.02% or 1.93 points to end at 65.94 and Mos obl sb (MCX:MSRS) was up 1.63% or 0.0150 points to 0.9350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which lost 4.24% or 13.15 points to trade at 296.75 in late trade. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 2.46% or 51.0 points to end at 2018.0 and Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL) shed 1.92% or 2.95 points to 150.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 75 and 6 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.95% to 36.240.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.40% or 4.80 to $1209.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.56% or 2.03 to hit $59.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.73% or 1.76 to trade at $66.41 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.76% to 51.070, while EUR/RUB rose 1.53% to 57.711.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.28% at 94.96.
