Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 4.94% or 0.590 points to trade at 12.545 at the close. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) added 4.24% or 12.70 points to end at 312.00 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 3.18% or 20.80 points to 673.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MMK (MCX:MAGN), which lost 3.29% or 1.315 points to trade at 38.595 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 3.09% or 4.23 points to end at 132.60 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) shed 3.05% or 39.0 points to 1240.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 122 to 94 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.12% to 20.700.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.63% or 8.36 to $1338.76 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $47.38 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.37 to trade at $52.38 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.41% to 57.7543, while EUR/RUB rose 0.88% to 68.8200.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 92.48.
