Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index gained 0.21% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were NOVATEK PJSC (MCX:NVTK), which rose 9.39% or 109.60 points to trade at 1,277.40 at the close. Unipro PJSC (MCX:UPRO) added 8.29% or 0.19 points to end at 2.48 and Gazprom PJSC (MCX:GAZP) was up 8.13% or 11.63 points to 154.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PhosAgro PJSC (MCX:PHOR), which lost 2.08% or 148.00 points to trade at 6,971.00 in late trade. GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX:AGRODR) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 1,083.80 and Surgutneftegas PJSC Pref (MCX:SNGS_p) gained 0.12% or 0.07 points to 59.53.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 163 to 78 and 13 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 15.44% to 42.99 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.16% or 4.58 to $2,928.02 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.59% or 1.90 to hit $71.42 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.35% or 1.81 to trade at $75.19 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.59% to 94.00, while EUR/RUB fell 2.26% to 97.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 107.86.
