Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS), which rose 7.55% or 0.40 points to trade at 5.60 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 4.98% or 1.06 points to end at 22.36 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 4.73% or 0.74 points to 16.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which lost 2.53% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.760 in late trade. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 1.23% or 0.01 points to end at 0.80 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 0.74% or 0.05 points to 6.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 23 to 14 and 45 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.02% or 0.44 to $42.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $44.92 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1327.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was unchanged 0.00% to 341.890, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 300.250.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
