Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 1.29% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which rose 3.07% or 0.08 points to trade at 2.82 at the close. Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP) added 2.93% or 0.49 points to end at 17.04 and EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) was up 2.46% or 0.23 points to 9.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE), which added 0.22% or 0.01 points to trade at 2.32 in late trade. Sonae SGPS SA (ELI:YSO) unchanged 0.22% or 0.00 points to end at 0.90 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) gained 0.38% or 0.02 points to 5.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 5 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 1.80% or 1.44 to $81.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.25% or 1.72 to hit $78.09 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.21% or 32.49 to trade at $2,714.79 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 108.98.
