Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI added 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which rose 3.11% or 0.41 points to trade at 13.61 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) added 2.85% or 0.01 points to end at 0.36 and Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) was up 2.20% or 0.20 points to 9.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS), which lost 0.84% or 0.05 points to trade at 5.34 in late trade. Nos SGPS SA (ELI:NOS) declined 0.74% or 0.03 points to end at 3.38 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) shed 0.59% or 0.03 points to 4.21.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 21 to 7 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was up 0.21% or 0.18 to $86.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.21% or 0.17 to hit $82.98 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 1.61% or 37.55 to trade at $2,370.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 104.92.
