Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Boryszew SA (WA:BORY), which rose 0.74% or 0.04 points to trade at 5.41 at the close. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) added 0.28% or 0.15 points to end at 54.00 and Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) was up 0.23% or 0.60 points to 266.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which lost 3.91% or 3.01 points to trade at 73.99 in late trade. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) declined 3.13% or 2.41 points to end at 74.49 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) shed 2.66% or 1.30 points to 47.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 283 to 213 and 181 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.48% or 0.76 to $50.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.26% or 0.66 to hit $51.85 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.80% or 10.15 to trade at $1272.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.44% to 4.3375, while USD/PLN rose 1.07% to 3.8311.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.02.
