Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 0.27% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE), which rose 2.92% or 0.45 points to trade at 15.86 at the close. Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) added 2.67% or 0.85 points to end at 32.70 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was up 2.21% or 0.07 points to 3.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH), which lost 3.98% or 3.59 points to trade at 86.60 in late trade. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) declined 3.41% or 1.79 points to end at 50.71 and Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW) shed 3.08% or 2.82 points to 88.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 297 to 238 and 114 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.80% or 0.34 to $42.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $48.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.26% or 2.90 to trade at $1115.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.03% to 4.1642, while USD/PLN rose 0.40% to 3.7763.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.04.
