Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Chemicals and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 1.66% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which rose 3.93% or 2.36 points to trade at 62.36 at the close. Synthos SA (WA:SNS) added 3.86% or 0.18 points to end at 4.84 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) was up 3.49% or 250.00 points to 7420.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER), which lost 0.91% or 0.35 points to trade at 38.25 in late trade. Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) declined 0.67% or 0.04 points to end at 5.90 and Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) shed 0.31% or 0.05 points to 16.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 298 to 288 and 99 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.19% or 0.68 to $58.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.50% or 0.32 to hit $63.77 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.70% or 8.40 to trade at $1194.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 1.00% to 3.9862, while USD/PLN fell 0.69% to 3.7021.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 97.94.
