Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which rose 6.46% or 0.47 points to trade at 7.75 at the close. Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) added 4.04% or 1.43 points to end at 36.80 and Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) was up 3.24% or 0.76 points to 24.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW), which lost 1.79% or 5.20 points to trade at 285.80 in late trade. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) declined 1.59% or 0.15 points to end at 9.28 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) shed 1.11% or 0.09 points to 8.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 290 to 246 and 182 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.19% or 0.09 to $48.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.92% or 23.20 to trade at $1188.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.17% to 4.4257, while USD/PLN rose 0.84% to 4.1924.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 101.69.
