Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Banking and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were PKO Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO), which rose 4.44% or 1.20 points to trade at 28.20 at the close. mBank (WA:MBK) added 3.52% or 11.90 points to end at 349.65 and Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) was up 2.89% or 0.34 points to 12.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which lost 0.64% or 0.55 points to trade at 85.50 in late trade. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 0.55% or 0.02 points to end at 3.59 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) shed 0.50% or 0.03 points to 5.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 270 to 263 and 128 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.64% or 0.72 to $44.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 2.54% or 1.25 to hit $50.49 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.09% or 11.90 to trade at $1106.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.43% to 4.2021, while USD/PLN rose 0.15% to 3.8217.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 97.41.
