Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction, Energy and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW), which rose 2.32% or 5.80 points to trade at 255.35 at the close. Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) added 2.18% or 0.28 points to end at 13.11 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) was up 2.08% or 0.63 points to 30.91 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LPP SA (WA:LPPP), which lost 4.88% or 252.05 points to trade at 4909.00 in late trade. Energa SA (WA:ENGP) declined 2.67% or 0.25 points to end at 9.10 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) shed 1.55% or 0.10 points to 6.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 266 to 224 and 170 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.37% or 0.18 to $49.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.66% or 0.33 to hit $50.05 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1214.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.05% to 4.3873, while USD/PLN rose 0.25% to 3.9330.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 95.51.
