Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which rose 4.91% or 0.28 points to trade at 5.90 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) added 4.87% or 1.11 points to end at 22.02 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 0.73% or 0.01 points to 1.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 9.23% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.18 in late trade. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 7.07% or 0.07 points to end at 0.92 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) shed 4.99% or 5.87 points to 111.86.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 25 to 11 and 51 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 3.30% or 1.30 to $38.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.76% or 1.13 to hit $39.74 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.20% or 14.70 to trade at $1236.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.05% to 221.930, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.100.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.64% at 95.38.
