Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 2.24% or 1.39 points to trade at 63.00 at the close. Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) added 1.72% or 2.18 points to end at 129.18 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 1.23% or 0.010 points to 0.820 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which lost 4.99% or 0.30 points to trade at 5.71 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 1.33% or 0.05 points to end at 3.70 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 0.71% or 0.10 points to 13.89.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 13 to 9 and 62 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.88% or 1.01 to $52.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.85% or 1.04 to hit $55.32 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.44% or 18.00 to trade at $1232.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.10% to 331.720, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 102.14.
