Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which rose 2.10% or 0.34 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 1.76% or 14.99 points to end at 892.00 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 1.67% or 0.10 points to 6.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB), which lost 4.89% or 0.13 points to trade at 2.53 in late trade. Dangflour (LAGOS:DANGFLO) declined 4.73% or 0.16 points to end at 3.22 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) shed 4.44% or 0.040 points to 0.860.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 27 to 16 and 49 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 3.91% or 1.76 to $43.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.96% or 1.51 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.34% or 3.70 to trade at $1107.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.10% to 219.640, while USD/NGN fell 0.15% to 198.750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.28.
