Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 2.08% or 0.94 points to trade at 46.05 at the close. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) added 1.53% or 0.08 points to end at 5.30 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 0.90% or 0.06 points to 6.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 4.55% or 0.15 points to trade at 3.15 in late trade. Dangflour (LAGOS:DANGFLO) declined 3.70% or 0.10 points to end at 2.59 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 3.48% or 0.08 points to 2.23.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 32 to 19 and 38 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.31% or 1.05 to $46.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 2.79% or 1.34 to hit $49.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.29% or 3.30 to trade at $1133.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.74% to 223.820, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 96.23.
