Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Trade & Services, Industrial Products and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were RHB Capital Bhd (KL:RHBC), which rose 1.14% or 0.09 points to trade at 8.01 at the close. Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM) added 0.96% or 0.07 points to end at 7.34 and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) was up 0.94% or 0.03 points to 3.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (KL:FGVH), which lost 2.30% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.12 in late trade. Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) declined 2.22% or 0.20 points to end at 8.80 and Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) shed 2.13% or 0.09 points to 4.14.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 36 and 3 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.00% or 0.47 to $47.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.29% or 0.16 to hit $54.95 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1182.80 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.27% to 2.7077, while USD/MYR fell 0.24% to 3.6985.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 98.86.
