Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Plastic and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.18% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Coaster International Co Ltd (TW:2936), which rose 10.00% or 3.90 points to trade at 42.90 at the close. Genius (TW:3406) added 9.89% or 9.00 points to end at 100.00 and Tpcc (TW:4725) was up 9.78% or 1.80 points to 20.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.84% or 0.18 points to trade at 1.65 in late trade. Jinli (TW:8429) declined 8.31% or 3.55 points to end at 39.15 and Enlight Corp (TW:2438) shed 5.56% or 0.60 points to 10.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 380 to 379 and 115 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.69% or 0.35 to $51.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.33% or 0.18 to hit $54.07 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.15 to trade at $1171.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.25% to 31.831, while TWD/CNY rose 0.37% to 0.2146.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 101.16.
