Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL), which rose 19.85% or 13.00 points to trade at 78.50 at the close. Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) added 15.25% or 12.20 points to end at 92.20 and Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD) was up 14.12% or 171.80 points to 1388.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH), which lost 20.70% or 5.90 points to trade at 22.60 in late trade. Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH) declined 19.99% or 62.00 points to end at 248.10 and Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) shed 15.39% or 400.10 points to 2200.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 118 to 57 and 44 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.40% or 0.46 to $32.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.52% or 0.52 to hit $33.76 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.50 to trade at $1223.80 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.55% to 206.105, while USD/LKR fell 0.25% to 143.900.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 96.90.
