Investing.com – Philippines equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining & Oil, Services and Holding Firms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite rose 3.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Bloomberry Res (PS:BLOOM), which rose 11.14% or 0.400 points to trade at 3.990 at the close. Philex Mining (PS:PX) added 7.42% or 0.290 points to end at 4.200 and Phi Long Dis T (PS:TEL) was up 6.79% or 138.00 points to 2170.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Energy Develop (PS:EDC), which lost 2.01% or 0.110 points to trade at 5.370 in late trade. Ayala Land (PS:ALI) added 0.33% or 0.100 points to end at 30.300 and Manila Electri (PS:MER) gained 0.39% or 1.200 points to 307.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 131 to 48 and 9 ended unchanged on the Philippines Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.20% or 2.20 to $1118.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.27% or 0.71 to hit $30.73 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.47 to trade at $32.10 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was down 0.04% to 7.2876, while USD/PHP fell 0.09% to 47.945.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 99.14.
