Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 10.72% or 0.36 points to trade at 3.69 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) added 8.88% or 0.859 points to end at 10.530 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was up 4.96% or 0.27 points to 5.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN), which lost 4.82% or 0.98 points to trade at 19.43 in late trade. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) declined 3.74% or 1.49 points to end at 38.34 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) shed 3.73% or 2.98 points to 77.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 66 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.22% to 28.74.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.59% or 0.19 to $32.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.08% or 0.38 to hit $34.66 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.24% or 14.20 to trade at $1155.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.81% to 1.1195, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.7680.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.65% at 96.61.
