United Arab Emirates shares higher at close of trade; DFM General up 1.68%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Sunday, as gains in the Telecoms, Finance & Investment and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 1.68%, while the ADX General index added 0.58%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which rose 10.53% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.260 at the close. Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN) added 7.00% or 0.170 points to end at 2.600 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was up 5.85% or 0.024 points to 0.434 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Commercial Bank of Dubai P.S.C. (DU:CBD), which lost 2.64% or 0.130 points to trade at 4.800 in late trade. Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) declined 0.59% or 0.005 points to end at 0.844 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) shed 0.20% or 0.001 points to 0.490.

The top performers on the ADX General were Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which rose 8.00% to 2.70, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was up 4.76% to settle at 0.440 and Methaq (AD:METH) which gained 4.62% to close at 0.680.

The worst performers were Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 1.96% to 0.500 in late trade, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which lost 0.85% to settle at 7.00 and First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which was down 0.80% to 12.35 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 23 to 3 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 rose and 4 declined, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.64% or 0.21 to $32.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.37% or 0.13 to hit $35.16 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.25% or 15.50 to trade at $1223.30 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.75% to 4.0166.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.71% at 98.13.
