Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Rubber and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099), which rose 7.63% or 250.00 points to trade at 3,528.00 at the close. Mercari Inc (TYO:4385) added 4.33% or 100.00 points to end at 2,407.50 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) was up 3.56% or 560.00 points to 16,270.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO:9104), which lost 3.57% or 189.00 points to trade at 5,111.00 in late trade. Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) declined 3.36% or 171.00 points to end at 4,923.00 and Subaru Corp (TYO:7270) shed 3.24% or 117.00 points to 3,490.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2583 to 1074 and 228 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.62% to 16.47.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.46% or 0.39 to $83.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.39% or 0.34 to hit $87.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 7.55 to trade at $2,372.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.32% to 160.74, while EUR/JPY fell 0.24% to 173.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 104.69.
