Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 2.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735), which rose 8.01% or 410.0 points to trade at 5530.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 7.11% or 215.0 points to end at 3240.0 and Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) was up 4.93% or 20.0 points to 426.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which lost 1.11% or 24.0 points to trade at 2134.0 in late trade. Japan Post Holdings Co Ltd (T:6178) declined 0.81% or 9.0 points to end at 1102.0 and Hitachi Zosen Corp. (T:7004) shed 0.50% or 2.0 points to 398.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 3092 to 480 and 166 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 16.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.05% or 0.58 to $55.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.40% or 0.87 to hit $62.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.83% or 11.85 to trade at $1439.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.32% to 107.64, while EUR/JPY rose 0.18% to 121.17.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 96.547.
