FTSE 100 today: rises to record high; pound falls; WPP appoints new CEO
Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK), which rose 2.47% or 19.85 points to trade at 825.00 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) added 1.99% or 33.10 points to end at 1,699.50 and Trent Ltd (NSE:TREN) was up 1.80% or 100.00 points to 5,659.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NSE:HDFL), which lost 0.82% or 6.45 points to trade at 783.00 in late trade. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE) declined 0.81% or 3.15 points to end at 387.30 and Jio Financial Services Ltd (NSE:JIOF) shed 0.67% or 1.95 points to 288.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.49% to 824.80, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.11% to settle at 1,700.90 and Eternal Ltd (BO:ETEA) which gained 1.83% to close at 228.25.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.60% to 9,215.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 0.30% to settle at 2,015.05 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 0.21% to 2,298.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1212 to 1174 and 34 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1934 rose and 1892 declined, while 128 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 9.73% to 16.26 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.01% or 0.34 to $3,322.74 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.70% or 0.43 to hit $62.27 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.54% or 0.35 to trade at $64.67 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 85.41, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 96.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 99.86.
