Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 2.12%, while the MDAX index gained 2.29%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 6.44% or 1.165 points to trade at 19.260 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 4.07% or 0.520 points to end at 13.305 and Siemens AG NA (DE:SIEGn) was up 3.60% or 3.210 points to 92.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which added 0.51% or 0.430 points to trade at 84.920 in late trade. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 0.86% or 1.250 points to end at 146.350 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) gained 0.89% or 0.051 points to 5.762.
The top performers on the MDAX were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which rose 6.32% to 26.730, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 5.25% to settle at 40.995 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 5.23% to close at 45.00.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 0.75% to 106.200 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 0.49% to settle at 8.19 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was unchanged 0.00% to 38.550 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which rose 4.89% to 17.800, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was up 4.18% to settle at 6.804 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 4.05% to close at 174.550.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 1.98% to 14.080 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 0.46% to settle at 51.750 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 0.17% to 43.580 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 706 to 167 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.63% to 20.85 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.25 to $1359.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.01% or 0.46 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.47 to trade at $46.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1049, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8508.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 96.64.
