Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 1.40% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA), which rose 6.97% or 0.14 points to trade at 2.15 at the close. Hellenic Exchanges Athens Stock Exchange SA (AT:EXCr) added 5.12% or 0.28 points to end at 5.75 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was up 4.51% or 0.11 points to 2.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coca Cola HBC AG (AT:EEEr), which lost 2.09% or 0.94 points to trade at 44.00 in late trade. Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) declined 1.56% or 0.02 points to end at 1.26 and Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR) shed 1.38% or 0.20 points to 14.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 92 to 38 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 3.06% or 102.30 to $3,241.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.47% or 1.51 to hit $62.53 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.30% or 1.47 to trade at $65.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.22% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.45% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.29% at 101.46.
