Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Banking and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.77% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr), which rose 4.60% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.32 at the close. Ekter (AT:EKTr) added 4.50% or 0.09 points to end at 2.09 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was up 3.57% or 0.08 points to 2.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which lost 2.32% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.34 in late trade. Jumbo SA (AT:BABr) declined 1.59% or 0.46 points to end at 28.44 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) shed 1.18% or 0.03 points to 2.52.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 78 to 47 and 21 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.63% or 20.20 to $3,248.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.63% or 1.01 to hit $62.96 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 0.92 to trade at $65.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 101.08.
