Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.67% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Bank of Cyprus Holdings PLC (AT:BOCHGRr), which rose 5.12% or 0.26 points to trade at 5.34 at the close. Gr Sarantis SA (AT:SRSr) added 3.47% or 0.42 points to end at 12.54 and Metlen Energy & Metals AE (AT:MYTr) was up 2.11% or 0.76 points to 36.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ekter (AT:EKTr), which lost 2.23% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.19 in late trade. Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) declined 2.08% or 0.70 points to end at 32.90 and Ideal Group SA (AT:IDEr) shed 1.50% or 0.09 points to 5.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 54 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.38% or 10.90 to $2,911.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.37% or 0.26 to hit $70.97 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $74.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 106.67.
