Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Software, Technology and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Transportation & Logistics and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.30%, while the MDAX index fell 0.28%, and the TecDAX index added 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 4.93% or 6.850 points to trade at 145.850 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) added 0.97% or 1.100 points to end at 114.200 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 0.88% or 1.350 points to 155.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which lost 6.81% or 5.490 points to trade at 75.110 in late trade. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) declined 5.77% or 0.715 points to end at 11.680 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 3.27% or 2.450 points to 72.430.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which rose 1.79% to 64.990, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 1.33% to settle at 102.700 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which gained 1.30% to close at 42.180.
The worst performers were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 2.60% to 13.84 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which lost 2.22% to settle at 35.855 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 1.69% to 26.710 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 4.30% to 40.990, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 3.42% to settle at 34.20 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 2.58% to close at 7.869.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.86% to 48.980 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which lost 1.71% to settle at 87.800 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.63% to 43.755 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 384 to 379 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.11% to 15.14.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.85% or 9.95 to $1183.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.06% or 1.65 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 3.03% or 1.73 to trade at $55.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.0574, while EUR/GBP rose 1.38% to 0.8693.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 101.93.
