Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Software and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Media, Construction and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.75%, while the MDAX index lost 0.46%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 3.62% or 1.65 points to trade at 47.27 at the close. Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) added 3.55% or 1.38 points to end at 40.22 and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) was up 2.55% or 6.10 points to 245.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn), which lost 2.26% or 1.34 points to trade at 58.08 in late trade. Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) declined 1.92% or 1.12 points to end at 57.22 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) shed 1.51% or 0.92 points to 59.96.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which rose 1.97% to 880.50, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was up 1.90% to settle at 47.30 and GEA Group AG (ETR:G1AG) which gained 1.85% to close at 46.24.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was down 8.19% to 82.35 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 6.81% to settle at 10.20 and Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which was down 4.36% to 76.70 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which rose 3.55% to 40.22, SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was up 2.29% to settle at 49.20 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which gained 1.90% to close at 47.30.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 5.23% to 11.42 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 3.95% to settle at 54.65 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.93% to 12.76 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 325 to 315 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.62% to 18.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.51% or 13.60 to $2,665.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.27% or 0.87 to hit $69.62 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.17% or 0.85 to trade at $73.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 107.09.
