Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Utilities and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.48% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index fell 0.24%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 4.96% or 2.84 points to trade at 60.14 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) added 2.83% or 1.33 points to end at 48.29 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) was up 2.29% or 0.43 points to 19.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which lost 3.35% or 1.00 points to trade at 28.86 in late trade. Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) declined 2.11% or 0.88 points to end at 40.75 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) shed 2.10% or 0.61 points to 28.45.
The top performers on the MDAX were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which rose 3.68% to 12.27, AUTO1 Group SE (ETR:AG1G) which was up 3.31% to settle at 19.04 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which gained 3.12% to close at 6.60.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 12.48% to 51.20 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which lost 4.82% to settle at 13.43 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 4.51% to 26.25 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which rose 3.68% to 12.27, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was up 2.43% to settle at 22.72 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which gained 2.29% to close at 43.84.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 12.48% to 51.20 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 2.51% to settle at 13.38 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 2.30% to 21.22 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 320 to 306 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.39% to 16.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.02% or 0.54 to $2,932.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.20% or 1.61 to hit $71.71 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.95% or 1.50 to trade at $75.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 107.77.
