Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Food & Beverages and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.07%, while the MDAX index declined 0.70%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn), which rose 3.03% or 13.50 points to trade at 459.10 at the close. Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) added 3.01% or 7.00 points to end at 239.60 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was up 1.90% or 0.50 points to 26.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which lost 1.61% or 0.54 points to trade at 33.06 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) declined 1.47% or 0.90 points to end at 60.36 and E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) shed 1.46% or 0.18 points to 12.18.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which rose 3.50% to 6.74, Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which was up 2.46% to settle at 62.50 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 1.87% to close at 32.70.
The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 7.19% to 19.50 in late trade, K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which lost 5.79% to settle at 11.80 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 3.28% to 21.50 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which rose 1.25% to 64.80, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 1.18% to settle at 9.84 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which gained 0.87% to close at 232.60.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 3.28% to 21.50 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which lost 2.74% to settle at 44.78 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 2.38% to 35.22 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 351 to 272 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.42% to 13.31.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.59% or 38.05 to $2,359.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.97% or 0.81 to hit $82.35 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.76 to trade at $85.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 104.62.
