Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Financial Services and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.16%, while the MDAX index gained 0.05%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 3.31% or 1.10 points to trade at 34.35 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) added 2.60% or 0.58 points to end at 22.86 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was up 1.81% or 0.56 points to 31.57 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which lost 6.94% or 1.67 points to trade at 22.41 in late trade. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) declined 4.17% or 5.30 points to end at 121.90 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) shed 3.77% or 0.96 points to 24.48.
The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 5.16% to 67.25, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 4.98% to settle at 6.64 and Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which gained 4.08% to close at 93.20.
The worst performers were AUTO1 Group SE (ETR:AG1G) which was down 4.80% to 21.40 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG (ETR:DWNG) which lost 3.63% to settle at 19.90 and Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) which was down 3.55% to 168.40 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 5.16% to 67.25, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was up 4.98% to settle at 6.64 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which gained 3.31% to close at 34.35.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 2.64% to 15.48 in late trade, PNE Wind AG (ETR:PNEGn) which lost 1.53% to settle at 14.18 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was down 1.36% to 33.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 351 to 289 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.83% to 22.81 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.17% or 5.06 to $3,043.34 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.00% or 0.68 to hit $68.96 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.61 to trade at $72.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 104.04.
