Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction, Basic Resources and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.42%, while the MDAX index declined 0.08%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 0.72% or 0.125 points to trade at 17.420 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 0.70% or 1.350 points to end at 195.000 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 0.47% or 0.034 points to 7.238 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which lost 2.71% or 2.400 points to trade at 86.170 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 2.59% or 2.800 points to end at 105.100 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) shed 1.21% or 1.050 points to 85.760.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which rose 3.39% to 68.966, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 1.76% to settle at 71.830 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.38% to close at 34.625.
The worst performers were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 6.06% to 75.680 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which lost 3.38% to settle at 36.680 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was down 2.91% to 65.440 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 6.85% to 50.980, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 1.54% to settle at 4.087 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 1.52% to close at 187.250.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.21% to 12.345 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 3.12% to settle at 37.72 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 2.32% to 44.060 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 485 to 258 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.97% to 14.82.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.40% or 17.25 to $1250.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.57% or 0.84 to hit $54.43 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.27% or 0.71 to trade at $56.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.0587, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.8433.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 100.92.
