Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.04%, while the MDAX index declined 0.63%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn), which rose 1.29% or 1.50 points to trade at 118.10 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 0.82% or 0.700 points to end at 86.160 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 0.81% or 0.90 points to 112.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 8.56% or 1.785 points to trade at 19.060 in late trade. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 1.11% or 0.930 points to end at 82.640 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 1.10% or 0.094 points to 8.460.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which rose 3.55% to 47.00, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 2.75% to settle at 38.87 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which gained 1.45% to close at 108.350.
The worst performers were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 2.29% to 60.130 in late trade, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which lost 1.93% to settle at 51.400 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 1.92% to 9.798 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 3.15% to 14.262, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 1.85% to settle at 137.90 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 1.22% to close at 4.559.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 17.35% to 7.377 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which lost 2.03% to settle at 37.900 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 1.83% to 12.075 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 440 to 313 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.31% to 13.46.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.33% or 4.04 to $1246.04 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.61% or 0.29 to hit $47.03 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.23 to trade at $49.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.05% to 1.1635, while EUR/GBP rose 1.49% to 0.8973.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 94.04.
