FTSE 100 today: Index opens flat amid latest trade developments; pound above $1.36
Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.61%, while the MDAX index fell 0.67%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 1.05% or 0.30 points to trade at 28.99 at the close. E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) added 0.84% or 0.13 points to end at 15.65 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) was up 0.76% or 13.50 points to 1,783.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn), which lost 4.18% or 2.48 points to trade at 56.78 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) declined 4.16% or 1.04 points to end at 24.08 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) shed 3.99% or 2.10 points to 50.54.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 17.11% to 8.24, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was up 1.50% to settle at 14.21 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which gained 1.37% to close at 74.00.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 4.02% to 57.35 in late trade, Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which lost 2.91% to settle at 22.03 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 2.56% to 18.62 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 17.11% to 8.24, IONOS Group SE (ETR:IOSn) which was up 2.46% to settle at 37.45 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which gained 0.75% to close at 17.45.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 4.02% to 57.35 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which lost 3.79% to settle at 33.39 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was down 3.53% to 46.51 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 443 to 178 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.46% to 19.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.90% or 62.61 to $3,357.61 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.51% or 0.31 to hit $61.51 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.32 to trade at $64.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 99.17.
