Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Software and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.18%, while the MDAX index fell 0.06%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 2.93% or 0.89 points to trade at 31.22 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) added 2.45% or 1.94 points to end at 81.06 and Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) was up 2.14% or 1.30 points to 62.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which lost 2.05% or 0.60 points to trade at 28.65 in late trade. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) declined 1.58% or 5.00 points to end at 311.80 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) shed 1.41% or 0.43 points to 30.06.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 9.45% to 3.16, Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which was up 3.15% to settle at 23.90 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 2.41% to close at 19.94.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 5.03% to 36.07 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 2.95% to settle at 11.19 and Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which was down 2.06% to 881.50 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which rose 3.29% to 15.70, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was up 3.19% to settle at 13.25 and Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which gained 2.42% to close at 44.08.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.05% to 13.38 in late trade, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which lost 1.87% to settle at 31.44 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 1.81% to 16.77 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 350 to 277 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.78% to 15.62.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.67% or 17.81 to $2,664.11 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.54% or 0.37 to hit $68.40 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.41 to trade at $71.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.89% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.99% at 105.91.
