Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Industrials and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.18% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.78%, and the TecDAX index added 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn), which rose 2.88% or 3.500 points to trade at 125.000 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) added 2.46% or 3.650 points to end at 152.050 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 2.39% or 2.050 points to 87.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 0.81% or 0.315 points to trade at 38.685 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.42% or 0.031 points to end at 7.404 and Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) shed 0.38% or 0.32 points to 84.08.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which rose 3.85% to 57.41, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 2.78% to settle at 67.370 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which gained 2.41% to close at 5.17.
The worst performers were Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was down 1.00% to 11.395 in late trade, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which lost 0.99% to settle at 115.600 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 0.96% to 12.900 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 4.83% to 52.780, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.66% to settle at 60.040 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 3.30% to close at 46.835.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.67% to 103.000 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 0.89% to settle at 12.825 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 0.18% to 28.105 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 526 to 230 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.39% to 14.08 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.05% or 0.65 to $1238.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.84% or 0.99 to hit $54.77 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.51% or 0.85 to trade at $57.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.0550, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.8459.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 101.35.
